How it works

A suspension stem carries an internal elastic mechanism (spring and elastomers) that flexes a few millimeters when the handlebar takes a hit. That small movement filters the vibration before it reaches your wrists. The Redshift ShockStop is the reference model of the segment.

It's not a fork: the travel is much smaller and it works only at the handlebar, not at the wheel. That's why it doesn't absorb big impacts, but it does absorb the fine, constant rattle that tires you on long rides.
