Institutional manifesto

BikeLab Studio was born out of exasperation.

The mechanic in sandals with a wide smile and an empty diagnosis. The "all done, boss" said without a torque wrench. The "that's just how it works" as a technical answer. Shoddy work institutionalized as the local industry standard. Years of watching a precisely engineered bicycle enter a bike shop in Trujillo and leave just as broken — but with oil on it.

In Trujillo — and in most cities across Latin America — the bike workshop runs on inherited intuition, not technical criteria. Nobody measures. Nobody verifies. Nobody explains what failed or why. They charge you, smile at you, and hand back the bicycle with the original problem renamed as a solution.

BikeLab Studio exists because that model is unacceptable for a cyclist who knows what they have between their hands.

We're asked if we're going to organize cycling races in Trujillo. No. Not the way they're run here — without technical criteria, exploiting amateur enthusiasm to fill an entry form. If we ever execute something, it will be perfect, validated solely by us, or it will not exist.

We're asked why we don't post photos of our clients. Because the priority is the mechanics. The truth is in the established micron, not in content for social media.

We're asked if we partner with local groups, shops, or brands. No. BikeLab Studio is an independent technical entity. Not a bike shop that survives on likability, nor a store that depends on belonging to something to have meaning.

The music playing at BikeLab Studio is curated. The photographs are curated. The color palette was not chosen by trend. The equations we publish — and which we know few understand — are there because they are true, not because they generate engagement. Nothing in this space is done by guesswork. That same precision is what we apply to every bicycle that enters the laboratory.

Here the work is technical or it doesn't happen. Every intervention in bicycle maintenance, MTB suspension adjustment, hydraulic brake diagnosis, or drivetrain analysis has documented criteria, specified torque, and prior diagnosis. We don't offer good vibes. We offer precision.

We are not everyone's workshop. We are the workshop for those who have had enough of the others.

Digital technical tools — Open-access infrastructure

BikeLab Studio develops open-access digital technical tools built on applied research and computational simulation. These tools are used by cyclists in Peru, Spain, the United States, Ireland, Chile, and Poland. They are not content. They are technical infrastructure.

SAG Calculator

Calculates the optimal sag point for MTB suspensions using a physical model calibrated with official data from Fox, RockShox, Öhlins, SR Suntour, Manitou, Marzocchi, DVO, and Cane Creek — 132 suspensions, 10 brands, 10,000 Monte Carlo simulations. The most comprehensive tool in Spanish for MTB suspension setup.

Di2 & AXS Diagnostic

Interactive diagnostic tree for Shimano Di2 and SRAM AXS. Identifies the fault — power, communication, or mechanical — without an app, without a server, without cost.

Fit Analyzer

Processes .FIT files from Garmin, Wahoo, and Coros to analyze cadence, climbing stability, power variability, and cardiac decoupling. Monte Carlo uncertainty included. No servers. Free.
